e-know.net gets on merger fasTrack...

Managed service specialist e-know.net has launched an initiative aimed at firms who are about to merge with, or acquire, another firm and then need to address the IT requirements of the enlarged organisation.

With the FasTrack consulting service, e-know.net are looking to encourage firms to outsource the problem of merging networks, applications, accounts and data by moving to a new hosted enterprise solution tailored to their specific requirements. The emphasis is on speed and simplicity, as e-know.net managing director Nigel Redwood explains:

“Merging IT operations can be a huge operational and financial headache so we want to suggest a more straightforward and cost-effective alternative – let us take the strain of turning two into one while delivering a bespoke, leading-edge IT platform on which the new entity can build and grow. FasTrack, as the name implies, is designed to bring dynamism to that process so that IT considerations do not detract from or hamper other parts of the merger. The key is in putting together a team of analysts, process engineers and IT specialists to work closely with clients to evaluate, plan and secure a smooth transition to an appropriate managed service solution. ”

Under the terms of FasTrack, a client is assigned a dedicated team made up of both business and technical consultants. The first stage is a full analysis of the IT and operational requirements of the merged organisation, followed by the preparation of a specification and business case for the hosted model. On acceptance, the team completes a comprehensive road map with budget parameters and timelines, for the final implementation, drawing on additional resources and skill sets from the wider e-know.net organisation.

The launch of the initiative comes at time of rekindled interest in outsourcing and managed service provision. Nigel Redwood believes that merging firms can benefit from a ‘double whammy’ in the advantages that hosting brings: “It’s not just about offering a way through the integration minefield, it’s also about giving them long-term gains; fixed low costs, peace of mind, accelerated business development, increased user satisfaction, built-in business continuity, enhanced security and easier remote and mobile working. It’s a very credible alternative and one that is fast gaining ground in the professional services sector.”
